A great effort for a great cause!
To our brave front line workers: Your courage, selflessness and dedication are humbling.
We have invited the four biggest sports in South Africa, Cricket, Rugby, Running & Soccer to select 3 Proteas, 3 Springboks, 3 Ultra Marathon Runners & 3 Bafana Bafana players each, to participate in the event. Erik Vermeulen, a renowned South African adventurer, will be the Guide on each team. So each team will be made up of four participants : three iconic sports legends and Erik.
The Challenge we have set each team, is to cross over the Verneukpan on foot and pulling their provisions on one light frame cart on ‘fat-boy’ mountain bike tyres, unassisted and unaided, for 200km’s around the Pan. We have given each team 4 days to complete the trip.
The teams have been selected to include the most famous names in the sport with huge social media and fan following, and are made up of the following athletes:
"THE TEAM WITH THE QUICKEST TIME, WINS THE CHALLENGE. IT'S A RACE"
Our aim is to raise funds to support vulnerable communities in South Africa who are affected by COVID but who have not yet received any COVID support they critically require. Our campaign will deliver food, masking and education to communities in old age homes, orphanages and schools in both urban and rural areas. The entire programme will be managed exclusively by the highly respected, independent and leading COVID orientated NGO called Right To Care (www.righttocare.org ), which was founded over 19 years ago, and is still headed up by Professor Ian Sanne, one of the country’s most prominent infectious diseases doctors. Right To Care will match our donations one-to-one up to an amount of R5m.
